Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about staying with us in downtown Lava Hot Springs.

Where should I stay in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho?

The Suites of Lava Hot Springs offers 12 individually themed suites in a restored historic building in downtown Lava Hot Springs. Every suite has a private bathroom, and several include full kitchens. The World Famous Hot Pools are a short walk away, as are restaurants and shops in the downtown core.

How far are you from the hot springs?

We are located in downtown Lava Hot Springs, within walking distance of the World Famous Hot Pools. Most guests walk rather than drive. The Olympic Swimming Complex and the Portneuf River tubing put-in are also nearby on foot.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in is 3:00 PM and check-out is 11:00 AM. We use self check-in, so you will receive a door code before arrival rather than needing to meet anyone at a front desk. Early check-in and late check-out are sometimes available on request.

Do the suites have kitchens?

Seven suites have full kitchens with a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave, and cookware: Suites 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12. The remaining five — Suites 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 — have a mini fridge and microwave. Every suite includes a private bathroom, heating, air conditioning, WiFi, and a TV.

How many people can you accommodate?

Individual suites sleep between 2 and 6 guests. Four pairs of suites connect through interior doors with bolt locks on both sides — Suites 3 and 4, 5 and 6, 9 and 10, and 11 and 12 — so families and groups can book adjoining rooms. Across all 12 suites we can host roughly 44 guests in one building.

Do you have meeting or conference space?

Yes. We have a private conference room with a table seating 8, a marker board, and a kitchenette. It works well for business retreats, planning sessions, and family gatherings, and it books alongside the suites. Contact us for availability and rates.

How far is Lava Hot Springs from Salt Lake City, Pocatello, or Idaho Falls?

Lava Hot Springs is roughly 40 minutes from Pocatello, about 1.5 hours from Idaho Falls, and around 2.5 hours from Salt Lake City. It is a common weekend destination from all three, and an easy midweek drive.

Is parking available?

Yes. We have four parking stalls in the alley behind the building for guests. Street parking is also available throughout downtown — just note that overnight parking is not permitted on Main Street, so use the alley stalls or a side street if you are staying the night.

Do you have a hot tub or private soaking?

We do not have a hot tub or private soaking pools on site. Guests use the World Famous Hot Pools, which are a short walk from our building and open year-round. The mineral water there comes straight from the natural springs and holds between 102 and 112°F.

What is there to do in Lava Hot Springs?

The hot pools are open year-round and are the main draw. In summer, tubing the Portneuf River runs through the middle of town and the Olympic Swimming Complex has diving platforms and water slides. The downtown area is walkable with restaurants, coffee, and shops. Winter is quieter, which many guests prefer for soaking.
